Sonia Gandhi opens Indira Bhavan

Bhopal, July 3 (UNI) Congress President Sonia Gandhi today inaugurated the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee's newly-constructed office 'Indira Bhavan' in the state capital.

She unveiled a marble plaque on the ground floor to formally open the four-storey building in Shivaji Nagar locality and took a round of the office. The existing PCC office at Roshanpura square is named 'Jawahar Bhavan'.

Ms Gandhi, who arrived here on a six-hour visit, spent about 10 minutes at the Indira Bhavan, where she made no formal address. After posing for cameramen, she briefly interacted with party workers.

Union ministers Arjun Singh, Kamal Nath, Suresh Pachouri and Kantilal Bhuria, Congress general secretaries Digvijay Singh and V Narayansami, PCC President Subhash Yadav, former PCC chiefs Urmila Singh and R K Malaviya were among those present.

Earlier in the day, Ms Gandhi launched the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission and inaugurated a school started by the 'Bhaskar' newspaper group. After addressing a convention of party workers, she will return to Delhi this evening.
