Sensex opens seven pts up on strong performance

Mumbai, July 3 (UNI) The BSE sensex today opened in the green by seven points at 10,616.97 compared to the previous close of 10,609.25, on strong performance by the auto, IT and consumer durables sectors.

Major indices on the BSE like Midcap and Smallcap were up by 0.61 and 0.42 per cent, others like auto, consumer durables, FMCG, IT and metals were up by 0.57, 1.24, 0.33, 1.08 and 1.03 per cent respectively.

Indices which lost are- PSU down by 0.08 per cent, capital goods down by 0.27 per cent, and oil and gas down by 0.13 per cent.

Major scrips which have gained on the sensex are- TCS, Hindalco, Maruti Udyog, Infosys, Satyam, Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, ITC Ltd, Tata Steel and Ranbaxy all up between 0.95 to 2.56 per cent.

Besides, the major losers are- Reliance Communications, HDFC, Grasim, Bharti Tele, Cipla, Gujarat Ambuja, ONGC, HDFC Bank, Wipro, and Reliance Energy all down between 0.24 to 4.00 per cent.
