Petition on rescheduling of cricket World Cup itinerary dismissed
New Delhi, July 3 (UNI) The Supreme Court today dismissed a petition filed by a member of Vidharba Cricket Association, seeking rescheduling of the Cricket World Cup 2007 itinerary on the grounds that annual examinations are held in March and April in India and hence majority of cricket fans would not be able to enjoy the tournament.
A bench comprising Mr Justice K G Balakrishnan and Mr Justice K Jain took exception to filing of such frivolous petition.
Petitioner Uma Kant Agnihotri through his counsel sought permission to withdraw the same when the court was about to dismiss his petition.
The permission to withdraw the petition was, however, granted by the court.
BCCI had made its stand clear that the itinerary is finalised by the ICC and BCCI has no role to play and that it will not be possible to make any change in the itinerary of cricket world cup 2007 to be played in West Indies.
