Mizoram Congress vice-president passes away
Aizawl, July 3 (UNI) Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee vice-president Sainghaka died here yesterday following prolonged illness.
He was 70 and is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.
He had been suffering from lung cancer since 2004. He was not able to attend the last four Assembly sessions due to deteriorating health.
Sainghaka was a strong contender for the state Congress president's post. He had a rift with Opposition leader Lalthanhawla in the later years of his political career.
His funeral, held today, was attended by all the party workers.
