Koramangala observes bandh against BMP demolition drive
Bangalore, July 3: The upmarket Koramangala area in the city today observed total bandh in protest against the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike's (BMP) demolition drive in the locality.
The bandh call, given by the Residents Welfare Association, received good response, with only medical shops remaining open. All business establishments downed their shutters and schools in the area remained closed. However, no untoward incident was reported.
The protesters alleged that the BMP was showing partiality in identifying and demolishing buildings, constructed after obtaining all necessary permissions, leading to heavy loss to small business establishments.
The agitators submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to immediately interfere and stop the demolition drive.
