Corruption case registered against 3 policemen

Lucknow, July 3 : A case of bribery and corruption has been registered against six people including Hathras Superintendent of police, a circle officer and SHO in the district following a sting operation by a satellite news channel yesterday.

Police today said the action was taken after a private news channel showed Circle officer Nepal Singh and station in-charge K P Singh accepting bribe during a sting operation.

Cases under section 384,506,120B of the IPC and 7/13 of the Corruption Act have been filed against SP Dharmveer Singh, CO Nepal Singh, Station Officer KP Singh and local politicians Banwari Lal Soni, Satya Prakash and Shaitan Singh.

The three police officials have been transferred from the post with immediate effect and SSP Agra Deepesh Juneja has been asked by the DIG (Agra range) to probe into the matter.

Meanwhile, the senior Circle Officer of Hatras has been given the charge of Superintendent of police till a new appointment is made.
