Woman among three killed in Kashmir road accidents

Baramulla, July 2 (UNI) Three people, including a woman, were killed in separate road accidents in Kashmir today, official sources said.

They said two people, including a woman, were killed when their motorcycle was allegedly hit by a security forces' vehicle at Hyderbagh in Pattan area of this district in north Kashmir.

They said the motorcycle was hit by the vehicle near Hyderbagh bridge at 1330 hrs, resulting in injuries to the driver and the pillion.

The sources said the two, identified as Mohammad Rafiq Gojar and his cousin Mehmooda, were rushed to the SMHS hospital in Srinagar where they succumbed to injuries.

Later, the people blocked the road for more than an hour, demanding action against the errant driver.

In another incident, a Border Security Force (BSF) water tanker allegedly hit a pedestrian at Wathoora in central Kashmir district of Badgam this afternoon.

The sources said the villager, identified as Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Bhat, died on the spot. The driver of the vehicle ran from the spot after commiting the crime and was given a chase by the locals.

He was later caught and handed over to the police. They have arrested the driver and seized the tanker.

Police have registered cases in both the incidents.
