Villagers of Ravurupadu boycott polls
Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, July 2 (UNI) The villagers of Ravurupadu in Tallapudi Mandal of West Godavari district today boycotted the Zilla Parishad and Mandal Parishad elections to protest against the negligence of political parties in developing the village.
The villagers said they faced severe troubles due to lack of basic amenities like roads, drains and drinking water for the past 40 years.
They alleged that the leaders neglected their village which had about 1,200 voters and a population of 2,500 for the last 40 years.
They said their repeated requests to the government and representatives were not considered.
In view of the prevailing situation in the village, they decided to boycott the polls.
