UP Police to upload wanted list on website

Kanpur, July 2 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Police will upload a list of hardcore criminals of the state with their photographs on its website to provide detailed information in public interest.

Additional DGP (Law and order) Padman Singh told the media today, the decision was taken to help the police arrest such elements. He was here to review the law and order situation of Kanpur (City) district.

The website would be filled with information about the nature of crime, cases enlisted against them, photograph for identity and other relevant details.

Expressing concern on increase in bank dacoities, he said now Circle Officers would be taken to task, if their subordinates failed to arrest the culprits within two days.

Praising the role of Special Task Force (STF) in neutralising crime in the state, Mr Singh said, besides Lucknow, two more units would be set at Varanasi and Agra.

STF would also impart special training to policemen to check criminal activities in UP.

On the illegal use of red beacons and hooters atop vehicles, he claimed to have directed the cops to take strict action against violators of the law in this regard.

In reply to a question, the ADG said Chambal ravines were ''almost free'' from dacoits as hardcore criminals had either been gunned down or had fled the state.

''We will continue our operations as few of them might still be hiding in ravines.'' Mr Singh asserted the UP government wanted to flush out criminals from the ravines to restore confidence among the people.
