Two-day Traders conference from July 20

New Delhi, Jul 2 (UNI) Trade leaders from several organisations will hold a two-day national conference on FDI, VAT and other issues here from July 20.

The conference, held under the aegis of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), will also be attended by activists of organisations and groups opposing Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in retail.

CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said efforts will be made at the conference to launch a forum for a nationwide movement against FDI.

He claimed that with FDI in retail multinational companies, in an endeavor to capture Indian market, will target small traders.

Mr Khandelwal said the Government has failed to make a uniform VAT law across the country despite setting April 1, 2010 as the target date for implementation of Goods and Services Tax (GST).

''The traders feel neglected by the political system even after making handsome contribution to national exchequer,'' he added.
