TDB Member dismisses Jayamala's claim

Pondicherry, July 2 (UNI) Travancore Devasam Board member Punalur Madhu today ruled out the possibility of Kannada actress Jayamala entering the sanctum sanctorum of the Sabarimala hill shrine and touching the feet of Lord Aiyyappa.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Madhu said the Aiyyappa idol was installed 18 feet inside the sanctum sanctorum and no devotee could reach the place.

So it was impossible for Jayamala to touch the feet of Lord Aiyyappan.

He said women aged between ten to 50 years were not allowed to visit the hill shrine.

He said a board meeting would be held on July seven to discuss the issue in detail.

The government would not interfere in the issue, he added.
