South-west monsoon active in AP

Hyderabad, Jul 2 (UNI) Low pressure over the north Bay of Bengal off north Orissa and West Bengal coast persisted with associated upper air cyclonic circulation extending upto mid-tropospheric levels today.

Talking to UNI here, Hyderabad Meteorological Centre Director Satya Kumar said ''the condition is likely to concentrate into a depression and rainfall is likely to increase over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, with heavy to very heavy showers at a few places during next two to three days''.

Moderate to rather heavy rain and thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at a few places over Telangana and isolated rain and thundershowers are likely over Rayalaseema.

The chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cm are Palasa 6, Ichapuram, Mandasa and Sompeta in 5 each, and Dummagudem 3.
