Rs 22 lakh given to 189 militancy victims in JK

Srinagar, July 2: The Jammu and Kashmir government has distributed about Rs 22 lakh among 189 militancy-affected families under the rehabilitation scheme, an official spokesman said today.

Similarly, he said Rs 30 lakh have been disbursed among 300 beneficiaries under the national family benefit scheme.

Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen distributed the cheques at a function organised by the state Social Welfare Department.

Addressing a gathering, Mr Yaseen called upon the officials to conduct a survey for identification of unattended beneficiaries in far off and remote areas of the state.

This would ensure that the benefits of various welfare schemes launched by the state and the central governments from time to time percolate to the grassroot level, he added.

The Minister said it was only the poor, destitute and disabled people who face miseries, sufferings and hardships.

He called upon all to come forward and help the deserving and the underprivileged people.
