Power theft: Special courts in Chhattisgarh
Raipur, Jul 2 (UNI) With a view to get rid of hurdles in the way of filing police cases against and punishing power pilferers, the Chhattisgarh government has constituted five special courts.
''The courts will be set up at Raipur, Ambikapur, Bilaspur, Durg and Jagdalpur. The Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board's regional officials will henceforth be able to directly register cases in courts,'' CSEB Chairman Rajeev Ranjan said today.
The state has been divided into nine circles and vigilance officials appointed for speedy detection of theft. A Special Red Month Campaign, launched for trapping those indulging in large-scale theft, is showing good results.
''Special flying squads will soon be formed to accelerate the campaign against the big fish. The squads will operate secretly and conduct raids,'' Mr Ranjan added.
