People frustrated to see their hopes crushed: Marandi

Jamtara, Jul 2 (UNI) Former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi today regretted that the hopes conceived during creation of Jharkhand state "turned sour" due to government's alleged apathy towards the core issues.

While justifying his resignation from BJP, Mr Marandi said the NDA government under Mr Arjun Munda was not giving due attention to the poor and marginalised section of the state.

Mr Marandi, president of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha, told reporters here on his way from Dumka to Dhanbad, that the" days of the Munda government were numbered." He charged the government with ignoring issues concerning the poor and added that the people were" feeling frustrated to see their initial dream conceived during the creation of the state getting shattered due to lack of political will and vision of the ruling leaders." "Till date majority of the villages did not have basis needs of electricity, roads and health facilities," Mr Marandi said.

Refuting the BJP's claim that his leaving the party would not make any adverse impact, he said it would be clear in the by-election to Koderma parliamentary seat that fell vacant following his resignation from the Lok Sabha last month.
