Mortars, gunfire in Baghdad Sunni neighbourhood

BAGHDAD, July 2 (Reuters) Mortar and gunfire boomed across a Sunni district in Baghdad today, police and a witness said, a day after a car bomb in a Shi'ite area killed over 60 people in the bloodiest attack in three months.

Police said between 10 to 15 mortar rounds slammed into Adhamiya, a Sunni neighbourhood that has seen considerable insurgency activity. A Reuters cameraman at the scene reported hearing gunfire.

There was no immediate word of casualties.
