Malegaon farmer commits suicide
Malegaon, Maharashtra, July 2 (UNI) A day after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh announced a Rs 3750-crore package for distressed farmers in Vidarbha, an indebted farmer in north Maharashtra committed suicide today.
Police sources said a 50-year-old farmer, Santosh Ukhabade, committed suicide at Rajbane village of Malegaon taluka in Nashik district today.
The farmer had taken a loan of Rs 15,000, sources said. He had consumed some pesticide and was rushed to a hospital but died while undergoing treatment.
