Low pressure intensifies, heavy rain likely in costal AP

Visakhapatnam, July 2 (UNI) Low pressure, over northwest Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood intensified into a deep depression at 0830 hrs today and lies centered at about 250 km southest of Balasore.

According to a special bulletin issued by Cyclone Warning Centre here this evening, it is likely to intensify further and move in a west north-westerly direction and cross north Orissa and West Bengal coast between Paradeep and Diga by tomorrow morning.

Under its influnce, rain or thundershowers were likely to occur at most places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh and many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 48 hours.

Isoland heavy to very heavy rain fall was likely over north coastal Andhra Pradesh during next 48 hours.

Squalls with a speed of 50-55 kmph along and off Srikakulam and Vizinagaram districts of north coastal Andhra and strong offshore winds from westerly direction with 45-55 kmph speed were likely along and off other districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh.

As the sea is reported rough to very rough along and off coastal Andhra, fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea.

The local cautionary signal number three was hoisted at Kalingapatnam and Beemunipatnam ports and the distant cautionary signal bumber one at Visakhapatnam port Kakinada ports, the bulletin added.
