K'taka Forests Minister has narrow escape

Bangalore, Jul 2 (UNI) Karnataka Forests Minister C Chennigappa had a narrow escape when his car caught fire near Honnenahalli village in neighbouring Tumkur district, about 110 km from, here last night.

Police said the accident occurred when the Minister was going to his native village Byranayakanahalli around midnight yesterday, after attending a programme at Tiptur. The car's engine caught fire, but people from the village and personnel in his convoy put off the blaze immediately.

While the Minister was unhurt, his driver sustained minor injuries, the police added.
