Karunanidhi urges Centre to reconsider its decision on NLC
Chennai, July 2 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram to reconsider the decision to disinvest 10 per cent of government shares in the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC).
In a faxed message to the leaders, he referred to the proposed indefinite strike by NLC workers from July four and urged for the immediate reconsideration of the Government's decision.
Mr Karunanidhi, whose DMK is a key constituent of the UPA Government at the Centre, also suggested that if disinvestment of shares could not be avoided, the Government could consider distributing the shares to NLC workers, an official release here said.
