Kalam arrives on a three-day visit to Orissa

Bhubaneswar, July 2 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam arrived here tonight on a three-day visit to Orissa.

Orissa Governor Rameswar Thakur, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Works Minister A.U.Singdeo besides several senior officials were present at the Biju Patnaik Airport to receive the President.

Dr Kalam on his arrival in a special flight, proceeded to the Bhubaneswar Eye Institute, a unit of L V Prasad Eye Institute of Hyderabad, to interact with the doctors. He would inaugurate the Institute tomorrow afternoon.

The President will visit Berhampur tomorrow morning to attend the Platinum Jubilee Celebration of the City High School from where he would proceed to Mahuda to inaugurate the Silver Jubilee Celebration of the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Acharaya Prafulla Chandra Ray Memorial Cancer Chemotherapeutic Research unit there.

Dr Kalam would address a national symposium on--Drug Molecules: Discovery and Delivery System before returning to the state capital in the afternoon.

On his return from Berhampur the President would inaugurate the newly constructed Governor's conference hall inside the Raj Bhawan and then proceed to the Bhubaneswar Eye Institute to inaugurate it.

On July 4 morning, Mr Kalam would visit the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO)'s Testing Range at the Wheeler Island in the Bay of Bengal and address the defence scientists there.
