Govt to extend licence of hazardous waste generating plants

Chandigarh, July 2 (UNI) Haryana State Pollution Control Board has decided to extend the authorisation for those hazardous waste generating industries which had obtained authorisation under Hazardous Waste Management Rules 1989 for the year 2005-06 upto September 30.

A spokesman of the Board here today said that these units should also have hazardous waste storage facility as per provision of the rules and not violate any provisions of the Hazardous Waste Management Rules. Also, the units had the capacity for additional hazardous waste storage facility.

Giving details about the conditions, the spokesman said that the unit should enhance their storage capacity as per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) guidelines, if required. It should not disposed off hazardous waste illegally and should ensure the compliance of Hazardous Waste Management Rules and CPCB guidelines. The unit should ensure strict compliance of orders and directions of Supreme Court as given on October 14, 2003. The unit should also submit details of the quantities of hazardous waste stored in their premises within 15 days to the board.
