Government should arrange blood for poor patients-Shekhawat
Patna, July 2 (UNI) Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat today expressed concern over deaths of poor patients for want of blood and urged the Bihar government to make arrangements for providing blood to the poor patients.
Inaugurating the blood bank at Red Cross society, Mr Shekhawat referred to the sufferings of the patients in remote areas due to dearth of blood banks in rural areas.
''The poor patients mostly of the remote areas do not get blood in time due to paucity of fund and in such circumstances it is the responsibility of the state government to ensure such facilities at village level,'' Mr Shekhawat said.
He requested the people to donate blood generously and asked the government to sensitise the mass towards importance of blood donations. He suggested the state government to hold camps in the remote areas for blood donations.
On this occasion, the chairman of the blood bank of the red cross society B B Sinha said the blood bank of the society would be of international standard.
Bihar Governor R S Gavai, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and Bihar Health Minister Chandramohan Rai were also present on the occasion.
