Five Dalits injured in group clash
Tirupati, July 2 (UNI) Five Dalits were injured, one of them seriously, in a group clash between two villages at Narayanavanam in Puttur constituency, in Chittoor district today.
Narayanavanm Circle Inspector Subbanna told UNI that the trouble began when dalit villagers from Thirunatham obstructed another Dalit group of Errakampattu, who were passing through farm fields to the polling station.
They clashed with sharp knives and hurled stones at each other leaving five injured.
The injured were admitted to the Puttur hospital and later shifted to the Government Ruia Hospital here.
Mr Subbanna said section 144 was clamped and police pickets were deployed. The situation was under control, he added.
