Fish ponds demolished after SC order

Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, July 2 (UNI) As recommended by the Supreme Court Empowered Committee, about 31,000 acres of fish ponds had been removed from the Kolleru Lake, here today.

Talking to UNI here Special Officer Kolleru Lake demolishing Programme N Muktheswara Rao said Rs 13 crore was spent for the removal till date.

Mr Rao said a modern technology would be introduced to preserve and market the fish in Kolleru Lake. A Kolleru villagers team was formed to observe the preservation and marketing, he added.

He said everything was completed as per the norms of the Supreme Court.
