Electronic media a threat to print media, says Mehta

Dehradun, July 2: Outlook Editor-in-chief Vinod Mehta today said the electronic media has made survival of print media tough.

In his inaugural address at a formal launching of English daily Garhwal Post here, Mr Mehta said the birth of any newspaper was a matter of celebration. ''With advent of electronic media,economy difficulties survival of print media has become more tough. And that print media has to face has further roughed up the way of survival for them,'' he said.

On the responsibilities of the media, he said it should not always look for the breaking news but it should reflect the concerns of the community and angers and grievances should be given due importance.

Earlier, Ms Indira Hridayesh, Information Minister of Uttaranchal, launched the website of the paper www.garhwalpost.com.
