Drug case Russian undertrial escapes
Panaji, July 2 (UNI) Authorities here today alerted all the airports and the police stations in the country to apprehend a fugitive Russian undertrial allegedly involved in drug peddling in this international tourist destination.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (Crime) Ujjwal Mishra told UNI that a massive manhunt was on to nab the Russian, Ruadikar Michael D'Mitrov, who gave the slip to the escorting cops yesterday while being brought back to prison after a medical check-up.
The foreigner was arrested on May 26 last year by the customs authorities and handed over to Mapusa police. He had since been in judicial custody.
He allegedly hit one of the two escorting constables and fled from the scene. The two cops were suspended for dereliction of duty.
