Dreaded criminal Naresh killed in Narela encounter

New Delhi, July 2 (UNI) A dreaded criminal, wanted in the murder of a sub-inspector and several other cases, was killed in an encounter with police in North West Delhi today.

Naresh alias Neshi was killed in Narela area of North West Delhi this afternoon.

A Crime Branch sleuth said police had laid a cordon on national highway-1 for Naresh and tried to flag him down.

However, he tried to speed away but after a brief chase police stopped him. He then opened fire and the crime branch sleuths retaliated.

Naresh was hit by a bullet in the encounter and was rushed to hospital where he was declared brought dead.

He was wanted in the murder of sub-inspector Suresh Chand on March 12, 2005 and also in the attempt to murder of Head Constable Brij Kishore besides other cases.

Further probe is on to ascertain his involvement in other cases in Haryana.
