Counting begins tomorrow amidst tight security

Pondicherry, July 2 (UNI) The counting of the votes polled in the three-phased local body elections held on June 24, 27 and July 1 will begin here tomorrow.

The counting would be held in their respective regions amidst tight security.

The Pondicherry region had seven counting stations.

The counting for Pondicherry municipality would be held at Bharathidasan government women's college.

For Ozhukarai, the counting would be at Government Tagore arts college. The counting for other five commune panchayats in Pondicherry region would be at other five centers.

The results of Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam region would be forwarded to the head quarters here at Pondicherry. All the counting centers were interlinked.

The results of the Municipalities are expected by tomorrow evening. The results of ward members would be announced within four hours of the commencement of counting at 0800 hours.

The services of the Rapid Action Force, Indian Reserve Battalion and local police are being utilised to ensure law and order during the counting.
