Congress predicts two-third majority in ZP polls
Hyderabad, Jul 2 (UNI) Andhra pradesh Congress Committee President K Keshava Rao today predicted that the Congress would win all the Zilla Parishads with two-third majority except in Khammam distrtict.
Talking to newspersons here after the completiion of the second phase of polling for the Local Body elections today, he said the Congress had faced tough fight in Khammam district. The party would win Khammam Zilla Parishad, too, he added.
Mr Rao said the polling was completed peacefully except few incidents in some areas.
He said the State Election Commission had taken all precautions for conducting the polling in a peaceful manner.
He said compared to 2001 elections, the incidents had come down.
''103 incidents were reported in the first phase of elections in 2001 elections, compared to 37 reported this time,'' he noted.
In the second phase of elections in 2001, 60 incidents were reported, compared to 40 incidents reported on the concluding day today, he added.
