Cong CMs meet to discuss price rise on July 5
New Delhi, July 2 (UNI) An emergency meeting of the Chief Ministers of 15 Congress-ruled states will be held in the National Capital on July 5.
The meeting, to be addressed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, is expected to decide on measures to control price rise of wheat, pulses and vegetables, AICC sources told UNI.
The meeting will discuss the spiralling rise in the prices of essential commodities and urge the Centre to evolve an effective mechanism to check the inflationary trend.
The meeting would be held on 1000 hrs, sources said.
This would be second meeting of Congress Chief Ministers after the party-led UPA government came to power in 2004 after a gap of nearly 10 years.
The last Chief Minister's conclave was held at Chandigarh in October last year. The July 5 conclave would be seventh in the series after the Congress started the system in 2001.
