Centre to constitute NE Tourism Development Fund
Aizawl, July 2 (UNI) In a bid to address the growing demand to develop tourism sector in the North-east, the Union Ministry of Tourism and Culture would be setting up a North-East Tourism Development Fund.
The proposal along with review of the existing tourism projects would be subject of deliberations at a proposed meeting of the State Tourism and Culture Ministers of the North Eastern states convened by Minister of Tourism and Culture Ambika Soni, official sources here today informed.
The meeting is scheduled to be held in Guwahati (Asom) on July 3 and 4.
Tourism and Culture Ministers of Arunachal Pradesh, Asom, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura will participate in the meeting, sources disclosed.
The status of the cultural festival of the North East and initiative in the Library Sector, particularly infrastructure development and library programme of the Raja Rammohan Roy Library Foundation were among other issues that are slated to be discussed.
The Review meeting will further discuss the status of projects sanctioned by the Union Ministries of Tourism and Culture, issues concerning project formulation and implementation, encouragement to private sector and local entrepreneurs for development of tourism.
It will also discuss the status and working of different hotel management and food craft institutes in North-east, the sources added.
