World Bank to fund road project in Punjab
Chandigarh, July 1 (UNI) A World Bank team here for appraisal of the ambitious 1100-km road project for Punjab commended the pace of development in the state and the improvement in the fiscal indicators.
This project, which seeks 325 million US dollars funding from the World Bank, is likely to get the nod from the global body in September after the final round of discussions with the state government. The project is expected to be on road in October.
Chief Minister Amarinder Singh who held a meeting with a four-member team of the World Bank here yesterday, has expressed satisfaction with the discussions held with Ms Isabel Chatterton, a senior economist and project team leader.
