Minister restrained from const over disputed land

Allahabad, July 1: Allahabad High Court restrained Uttar Pradesh minister of state for social welfare Shailendra Yadav alias Lalai and another person from making any construction over a disputed land in Jaunpur district.

The court also directed the Jaunpur Superintendent of Police (SP) and Shahganj Station House Officer (SHO) to register an FIR of the petitioner as soon as the certified copy of yesterday's order was produced before them.

The order was passed on a writ petition filed by an educational institution of Jaunpur -- Shahganj Public Inter College.

The court directed the SP and SHO to appear in person on August 18, 2006 -- the next date of hearing. The respondents have been asked to file a counter affidavit in the case within three weeks.

The petitioner had contended that Mr Yadav alongwith his brother and agents was grabbing the property of the institution by force.

The petitioner said when he went to the concerned police station for lodging the FIR, the police expressed their helplessness in the matter.
