Two Punjab policemen dismissed for helping poppy husk smugglers
Hoshiarpur, July 1 (UNI) The Punjab Police has dismissed from service two policemen after they were found conniving with poppy husk smugglers and providing them with vital information, SSP R N Dhoke said.
The dismissed policemen were identified as Head Constable Roshan Lal and Constable Mahesh Chander, both posted in the Garhshankar sub-division of the district. Their dismissal was ordered under Article 311 (2) b of the Constitution of India read with PPR 16.1.
Mr Dhoke said that action against the policemen was taken following the submission of an inquiry report by DSP Garhshankar Ashwani Kumar. He said the two had developed a nexus with the local poppy husk smugglers and other anti-social elements.
They were involved in providing information relating to the security concern of the area to the anti-social elements,he added.
On account of this reason stern action regarding their dismissal from service had been taken,he added.
