Tigress dead at Kanha

Bhopal, July 1: An eight-year-old tigress, severely injured during a fight with another animal at Madhya Pradesh's Kanha National Park, has died due to excessive weakness despite treatment, official sources said.

During a tour of Kanha, the Chief Wildlife Custodian took stock of the tigress' plight and directed immediate treatment under anaesthesia.

The park management called in specialists on June 11, 20 and 23.

The final attempt was made yesterday. The carnivore regained consciousness but died later.
