SP helping RSS by giving emergency allowance: Cong

Kanpur, July 1 (UNI) Congress today alleged that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav was trying to enrich his vote bank by announcing various kinds of sops with an eye on the 2007 assembly polls.

''The recent allowance to emergency detenues is just to please the RSS,'' UP Congress Committee (UPCC) chief Salman Khurshid alleged talking to mediapersons here.

''Only RSS workers were sent to jail during emergency and Mr Yadav is trying to win the hearts of the BJP and RSS,'' he added.

Mr Khurshid charged that the UP government had failed to implement the rural employment guarantee scheme of the Centre and was giving unemployment allowance to ''derive cheap publicity.'' In reply to another question, he claimed that the recent price rise of essential commodities in India was due to rise in petroleum prices in the international market.

''Petro prices could have been reduced, if all the state governments had followed the suggestion of the Centre and reduced excise duty in their respective states.'' UNI KSP VS PK KP2108
