Second phase civic polls begin tomorrow

Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, July 1 (UNI) Amidst tight security, around 22-lakh voters in 1,027 villages will cast their vote in Naxal-infested Guntur district to elect 55-member Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTC), and 856 Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTC) in the second phase of civic.

In about 250 villages, where Maoists run a parallel government, posters, warning people against working as election agents in the booths have been put up. The warning is tagged with action against those who disregard it.

The TDP and the CPI had expressed apprehensions about the functioning of the district administration and the police.
