RPI seeks action against corrupt official

Gulbarga, July 1 (UNI) The Republican Party of India (RPI) today demanded that the Karantaka Government immediately initiate action against Printing Stationery and Publications Department Director H Gangaiah for indulging in corrupt practices.

Addressing a press conference here, RPI State Organising Secretary A B Hosamani alleged that Mr Gangaiah had engaged in several corrupt activities and the issue was also discussed in the State Assembly and Council in February 2005. The Lok Ayukta had also recommended the govermnent to prosecute Mr Gangaiah as the corruption charges against him had been proved.

Though the then Education Minister Ramalinga Reddy had assured to take action against Mr Gangaiah, no action had been taken so far, he pointed out.

Mr Hosamani said ''Mr Gangaiah is misusing power and indulging in corrupt practices in the purchase of printing material and machines.

This has led to delay in supply of free textbooks to the government schools,'' he added.
