Pondy clocks 90 pc polling

Pondicherry, Jul 1 (UNI) Ninety per cent of the 1.53 lakh electorate exercised their franchise in the third and final phase of the local body polls in this union territory today.

Polling was peaceful barring a stray incident of stone-pelting at a police party at Poornamkuppam in which a sub-inspector of the Pondicherry Armed Police sustained injuries.

He was treated at the government general hospital, District Collector and District Election Officer Theva Nidhi Das told a press conference here.

Counting will be held on July three.
