Police conducts raid on actor Chandran's house

Chennai, June 30: A police team from Madurai today conducted a raid at the residence of popular comedian and AIADMK Rajya Sabha member S S Chandran in connection with a dowry case and took into custody his brother's son Dhanasekaran.

Police said Dhanasekaran was taken into custody following a complaint lodged by his wife Latha for harrasing her for dowry.

During the raid, the actor was not present in the residence.

Police told newspersons a case had been registered against seven persons including the actor under various sections of the IPC.

Receiving information that Mr Chandran was now at Madurai, a special team was conducting a search in Madurai.

Actor's wife Ms Rajam alleged that the police raid and subsequent action was politically motivated by the ruling DMK.
