NR introduces 19 new train, reduces running time of 70 from today
New Delhi, July 1 (UNI) The Northern Railway has introduced 19 new trains, including 17 express services, from today.
It had also reduced the running time of 70 trains, including 49 express ones, NR Chief Passenger Traffic Managar S Ansari said while launching a new rationalised Railway Timetable for the entire Northern Zone -- Northern Railway, North Central Railway and North Eastern Railway.
Among the new trains introduced were Ranchi-Ajmer Barib Nawaz Express, four garib raths, Lucknow-Allahabad Intercity Express and Jalandhar City-Nakodar DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit).
NR had also able to shave off journey time by ten to 95 minutes for mail and express trains, and 15 to 70 minutes in the case of passenger trains without actually increasing their speed.
Running time of 2232 Chandigarh-Lucknow Express had been reduced by one hour thirtyfive minutes and converted into a superfast train.
Whereas, running time of 330 Amritsar-Dehradun Passenger had been shortened by one hour ten minutes.
Frequency of five trains had been increased, ten extended and additional stoppages provided on nine others.
While three trains had been diverted, two cancelled and days of running changed for five others.
