Muslim groups protest opening of wineshop near mosque
Rajahmundry, June 30 (UNI) Muslim groups today staged dharna in protest against opening of wine shop near a place of worship at Jampet in Azad Chowk here.
The agitation was led by Lababin Line Mosque president and town congress minority cell president Md Habibulla Khan.
Speaking on the occasion Md Habibulla Khan urged the authorities to stop opening of the wine shop near the place which housed both the mosque and the Vinayaka temple. He said setting up of wine shop in the place of worship would hurt the sentiments of the people and lead to antisocial activities. He said it would affect law and order and the security of women.
A large number of Muhammadans participated in the dharna, Significant among them were Wakf board member Moiddin, minority leaders D Jilani, Shabbir rahvoof, Ayoob Khan, Chandbasha, Ali Subbon and Md Fyreoz.
