Mayawati sees possibility of mid-term polls
Jalandhar, July 1(UNI) Bahujan Samaj Party president Ms mayawati today said there was a possibility of mid-term parliamentary polls in the country.
Talking to reporters here Ms Mayawati said in the wake of the ''wrong'' economic policies, rising prices and other contentious issues , a number of UPA allies, as well as the Leftists, were not happy with the Congress-led government.
She said if the Office of Profit Bill is not cleared in the Lok Sabha, then the Leftists could withdraw support to the UPA government. She, however, refused to divulge her party's stand on the bill, saying ''we will see when it is again tabled in the House for reconsideration''.
Ms Mayawati expressed strong dissatisfaction over the reported decision to defer implementation of reserving seats for OBCs in educational institutions of higher learning from June next year.
''A section in the Congress and some pro-higher caste opposition parties are bent upon putting hurdles on its implementation but the BSP is determined to ensure that the objective of reservation provisions is achieved,'' she added.
