Man injured when hit by Russian Consul General's car

Tiruvallur, July 1 (UNI) An elderly man was injured when he was hit by a car driven by the Consul General of Russia and Third Secretary in the Russian Embassy Georgie Pyatkin on the Tiruttani-Chennai National Highway in this district of Tamil Nadu last evening, police said today.

Police sources said the man, Dhanapal (60), attempted to cross the road at Lakshmapuram when he was hit by the car.

He suffered head injuries and was rushed to the Government General Hospital, Chennai, for treatment.

The dignitary was returning to Chennai from Tirupati when the mishap occurred.

Police have registered a case.
