K'taka to lease out 3 sick sugar factories

Bangalore, July 1 (UNI) The Karnataka Cabinet has approved handing over of three sick sugar factories on lease to private companies, Sugar Minister S A Ravindranath informed today.

Talking to reporters here, he said the cabinet had given its approval at a meeting here yesterday.

He said the factories to be leased out on contract basis for crushing of cane were Bhadra Cooperative Sugar Factory, Bramahvar Cooperative Sugar Factory and Sri Ram Sugar Factory.

Mr Ravindranath informed that the Cabinet had also sanctioned starting of a new factory at Holenarsipur. This new factory, to be named Chamundeshwari Sugar Factory, would have a capacity to crush 5,000 tonnes of sugarcane, he added.
