Implement reservations in Judiciary and Media: Bhujbal

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, July 1 (UNI) Maharashtra Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Chhagan Bhujbal today strongly demanded implementation of reservations in the judiciary and media in the country.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a day-long conference in support of the Other Backward Classes (OBC) reservations, held here, Mr Bhujbal exhorted on the constitutional suggestion for implementing reservations in the judiciary through the commission in line with the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

Earlier, delivering his inaugural speech, Mr Bhujbal came down heavily on the media for being bias of towards the issues of the OBCs and held the decision making people in the media responsible for the same.

Mr Bhujbal also demanded implementation of reservations in the media in the country.

The firebrand NCP leader who is also the president of Mahatma Phule Parishad has appreciated the leaders of the backward classes such as the Republican Party of India (RPI) President Ramdas Athawale, Laxman Gaikwad, and others for organising a day long conference in support of the reservations of OBCs and urged the various leaders of the OBCs to join hands with the forum to strengthen their ongoing fight for the 27 per cent reservations to the OBCs.

Mr Bhujbal declared that being an established political leader, neither he nor his children have availed of the reservations and resolved that he will not avail the same in the future. He said that his struggle for those who have been deprived for centuries and need to be offered reservations to compete with the established people in the society.

The state minister termed reservations as ''concessions'' and criticised the leading industry houses, for talking of merit while recruiting BC and OBCs, after availing concessions while setting up their industries.

Prominent among those attended the meet were newly elected RPI (A) MLA Adv Pritamkumar Shegaonkar, Mr Goving Pansare, Dr Bhalchandra Kango, City NCP leader Manmohansingh Oberoi.
