Hushovd pips Hincapie to win Tour de France prologue

STRASBOURG, France, July 1 (Reuters) Norwegian Thor Hushovd won the 7.1-km prologue of the Tour de France today.

The Credit Agricole rider will wear the first leader's yellow jersey after seven-times winner Lance Armstrong retired last year.

Hushovd clocked eight minutes 17 seconds and just pipped American George Hincapie of the Discovery Channel team, who finished 0.73 second behind as the last rider down the ramp.

Compatriot David Zabriskie of the CSC team was third, four seconds off the pace.

The first stage will lead the peloton on a 184.5-km ride around Strasbourg on Sunday.
