Haryana Congress Crisis: Bhajan Lal resigns PCC chief post

New Delhi, July 1 (UNI) Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhajan Lal today resigned as Pradesh Congress Committee chief in protest against the "raw deal" meted out to his followers in the new PCC reconstituted a week ago by the AICC.

The resignation letter was faxed to Party President Sonia Gandhi at her official 10 Janpath residence.

The extreme action by the ageing leader came at the end of a week long reported unfructified effort to meet Ms Gandhi to personally express his displeasure over the reconstituted PCC in Haryana where the state Congress is immersed in factionalism with Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Mr Lal on rival sides.
