Gujarat BJP leader asks UPA to reconsider repealing POTA
Ahmedabad, July 1 (UNI) The Gujarat BJP general secretary Purshottam Rupala today asked the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre to reconsider the latter's decision to repeal Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA).
Welcoming today's local POTA Court's judgment against the accused in terrorist attack on Akshardham temple at Gandhinagar on September 24, 2002 in which 35 people were killed, Mr Rupala said the judiciary could move fast in this case because of the provisions under POTA.
On the other hand, he recalled that over 250 people were killed in the Mumbai blast case in March 1992 and the prosecution could make little headway even after 14 years.
Mr Rupala said the first thing the UPA Government did after coming to power was to repeal POTA, resulting in return of the terrorist activities in the country.
